Naga - Jewelry and Ashes

The Naga lived in the hills of northern India and told about their lives and their world not with ink and paper, but in a coded system of textile patterns, JEWELRY design or wood carvings -that only they could understand.

Things of impressive aesthetics were told about positions in society or about enemies that were defeated. But this old vocabulary was forgotten; the jewelry crumbled to ASHES. In this exhibition, objects and memories from ancient times are given a voice again.
