Samurai and Geisha’s

Another ethnological exhibition which took place in 2014 was: " Samurai and Geisha," presented in the Kunsthalle Leoben. Artwork from collectors and museums from around the world brought the museum visitors back to the time of the Shoguns,  when Japanese society was divided into two parts.

Samurai were originally soldiers of the nobles, however, a new society of knights evolved with them. Samurai were not only warriors but they also occupied administrative and ecclesiastical positions. The Kunsthalle also provided insights into the private world during this time. Furthermore, among other things, a replica teahouse , religious figures and a rock garden were also featured.
